POSITION MISSION:
Under direction, the Marketing Manager contributes to the success of specific Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC) programs by creating and implementing effective marketing plans for those programs.

 

PRIMARY ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for developing, implementing, and communicating the marketing strategy: 50%
a. Develop communications strategy that identifies the target markets, marketing vehicles, budget amounts and marketing vehicles for successful marketing campaigns.
b. Effectively manage the implementation of the communications strategy
c. Set performance standards and methods for evaluating achievement at project's end.
d. Obtains campaign results from information center staff, program managers, and energy advisors to determine the effectiveness of the marketing strategy and marketing campaigns.
e. Reports progress on goals, spending, and status of program marketing plans.
f. Participate in and provide updates about marketing activities to program teams.

 

2. Project management: 45%
a. Work with the marketing firm(s), program staff, printers, and other vendors to develop materials to forward the communications plan.
b. Leads the efforts of marketing services team to manage the development of in-house materials within budget. In-house materials may include graphic design and layout, writing and editing, and managing the printing process.
c. Responsible for ensuring that project and campaign costs do not exceed available budgets.

3. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. 5%

 

SECONDARY AND INESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Answer marketing inquires outside immediate scope of responsibility
2. Assist marketing team and other departments within WECC on various projects
3. Represent WECC at industry conferences by sharing knowledge about marketing efforts and their successes.

Position Requirements  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The individual must possess these skills and abilities, or explain and demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities.

 

Education BA in Marketing, PR, Communications or related field

 

Required Skills Experience
1. 3-4 years of consumer marketing required with some business-to-business marketing experience preferred
2. Strong project management and time management skills
3. Successful facilitation, negotiation and consensus building experience
4. Fluent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to grammar and verbal and written presentation
5. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with minimal direction
6. Knowledge of marketing principles and printing process
7. Proficiency using Microsoft Office ability to learn new software quickly
8. Strong organizational skills
9. Demonstrated problem-solving skills

 

Desirable Skills Experience
1. Some public speaking or presentation experience
2. Basic knowledge of sales and persuasion techniques

2. Polite yet assertive communication style

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Budget oversight responsibility for up to 1M, and signature authority for invoices and estimates up to $5,000.

 

EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
Frequent contact with program sponsors.
Frequent contact with vendors regarding projects and other supplies associated with marketing.
Frequent contact with program contractors.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential demands include sitting or standing for long periods of time to work at a computer, using a telephone to communicate with non-WECC entities, sitting in meetings up to four hours with occasional breaks, and occasionally traveling by car to various regions within the State of Wisconsin.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Equipment Used: Computer, fax machine, telephone, copier
Travel Status: Occasional (e.g., trade shows, professional development classes)
Car Required: No (work vehicle available for travel during work hours)
Business Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM Exempt employees are expected to work as long as it takes to accomplish the goals and deliverables of the position; typically a minimum of 40-45 hours each week.
