Marketing Research Analyst recruitment

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Senior Marketing Analyst (SMA) will build and maintain an exceptionally strong institutional knowledge base about our investment strategies. They will provide superior competitor product research and analysis to global client facing professionals. The primary purpose of the position is to allow senior client facing professionals (e.g. sales, client service and consultant relations) to be more efficient and effective as a direct result of the independent, proactive research and analysis delivered by the SMA.

The SMA also supports the broader market research efforts of the GIS Global Marketing team. The analysis and conclusions independently prepared by the SMA are expected to directly impact the gathering and retention of assets.

Principal Responsibilities:

1.Analyzes and identifies trends related to the strategic positioning of TRP product versus our competitors for our senior external facing professionals.

• Independently prepares analysis and recommendations conducted through a quantitative and qualitative perspective. 

• Identifies and assesses trends within the institutional investment management industry and share compelling/analytical rationale behind recommendations.

• The quantitative analysis utilizes sophisticated analytical systems such as eVestment Alliance, Zephyr Style Advisor, Morningstar Direct, Callan/Russell/Mercer consulting databases, and other portfolio analytic systems.

• The analysis requires an in-depth understanding of the current competitive landscape, related industry trends, TRP’s institutional product set, and MPT stats. These analyses and recommendations are used by Sales, Client Service, Consultant Relations, Portfolio Specialists, and Portfolio Managers to support the gathering and retention of assets.

2.Conducts and compiles research and produces summaries of key competitors’ products on a quarterly basis. Compares competitor trends and analyzes impact on TRP products. 

• Manages projects and Ad Hoc requests from sales and client service professionals for competitor and product research to assist in the sales and service process. Requires the SMA to fully understand the objective, independently conduct analysis, and prepare findings in a user-friendly format for the client facing associate, often under tight time constraints.

3.Market Research and Planning Projects – work with GIS marketing colleagues on projects including new product research and background for road-show presentations.

Required:

• Outstanding analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative through the understanding of risk statistics, style analysis, and correlation analysis.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Software and Database skills - MS Office, Zephyr, Investor Force, Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, PSN, MMD, Callan/Russell/Mercer databases. 

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Experience communicating financial matters

• Discipline to manage large volumes of projects versus tight deadlines

• Self-motivated, creative, responsible, with excellent attention to detail

Preferred:

• Extensive experience in an investment firm
