Marketing Strategist EMEA – IBD recruitment
IB Marketing provides advisory, planning and creative execution services to support the IB’s client marketing activities, helping UBS meet its strategic business objectives.
Using the full range of marketing tools and channels, the team produces targeted, timely and cost-effective solutions, delivered within UBS Group’s legal, operational and brand guidelines.
The team’s work involves:

- Building a positive brand profile
- Supporting sales initiatives
The team works closely with its client businesses, UBS Group’s Communications and Branding functions and external vendors.
The Regional Marketing Strategist is accountable for the strategic planning, marketing development and delivery of programs to support the regional strategic goals of their client business.
The Role
- Will be physically located within the London (EMEA) IBD business and report directly into the Global Marketing Strategist, with dotted lines into the local business management
- Is to take full ownership for ensuring Marketing is integrated within the business management process by developing, in partnership with the leaders of the Regional IBD business, the annual marketing strategy, marketing plans and a robust budget to support their business strategy
- Is to advise and support your clients, develop their regional marketing strategies and roadmap for all marketing activities that the Marketing Execution team deliver against, adding real value year on year
- Is in close working relationship with all other marketing functions and in particular the Marketing Executioners, create the regional marketing plan and to support the project management and delivery of all necessary activity identified in the Marketing strategy and ensure a holistic approach to our clients’ business needs
- Is to co-ordinate effectively and seamlessly between the business and the Marketing Execution team to ensure everything we do is consistent with the Investment Bank’s business priorities, adding real value year on year
- Is in co-ordination with the Marketing Business Management team, to deliver comprehensive performance data, including appropriate return on investment information, to our clients, controllers and Corporate Centre
- Role will act as the main regional marketing relationship manager with the regional and sector heads and COO’s. In order to get a deep understanding of business goals and priorities, maintain a strong network of internal relationships and a visible profile within the business. The role will be expected in time to have a seat on the relevant regional business committee
- Work with each sector to define the area’s value proposition, brand/marketing strategic interaction and architecture, differentiating benefits and key messages. Ensure that these messages are clearly outlined, communicated and reflected in all activity, targeted to their specific client segments, including corporate clients, institutional investors, hedge funds, broker-dealers, market makers, financial advisors, financial sponsors, key intermediaries and high net worth investors
- Strategically influence the business regarding marketing communications and branding, and implement effective marketing approaches and appropriate mediums. This requires not only a deep understanding of the full spectrum of marketing solutions, but also knowledge relating to the IBD marketplace, the competitive landscape and our clients
- Maintain key industry and vendor contacts globally, and participate in networking events to gain better insights and promote our brand image
- Provide the business with bespoke reporting and accurate valuable information necessary to evaluate the investment and success of marketing efforts
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of the business and what drives revenue in order to make informed decisions on presenting ROI metrics and delivering upon the fundamentals of the strategic marketing plan
People/Team
- Working closely with the Marketing Execution team, drive the development of the regional marketing plan and provide guidance for the conceptual development of marketing activation plans, including client research, development of client events, conferences (both third party and UBS managed) internal events, advertising, websites, brochures, factsheets, credentials, awards and survey’s including preparation of external award submissions.
- Work with Global Business Management to present internal clients with reporting on all marketing measurement tools necessary to analyze ROI and KPI’s.
- Work with Legal and Compliance to ensure all marketing strategies have been fully vetted and approved.
Requirements:
- A professional marketer with extensive experience in relationship and experiential marketing as well as a wide range of traditional, digital, social media and direct marketing within the IBD business environment
- Experienced in the Investment Banking/wider Financial Services Industry with considerable product knowledge of most or all of IBD products such as and services such as advisory services, MA, corporate restructuring solutions, global capital markets, private funds group, and financial sponsors, so that your consultation is reflective of the evolving needs of the IBD business
- Familiar with the prevailing regulatory environment with respect to rules for communications with the public, in order to be able to appropriately steer programs in a manner that is compliant and responsible
- Experienced in analyzing, developing and implementing all types of marketing research
- A successful Project Manager, with demonstrable experience in executive level initiatives, complex problem analysis and resolution, handling multiple projects of various sizes simultaneously to deadline and on budget
- A strategic and creative thinker, able to generate ideas and concepts and influence at senior management levels
- An excellent communicator, with proven organizational, presentation and analytical skills
