The College Board, a national education organization, is conducting a search for an Assistant Director who will be responsible for SpringBoard communications and marketing support to College Board staff, clients, and external organizations. This position is resident at our New York City headquarters.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director, SpringBoard Marketing Support will act as the sales support lead with Region Account Services (K-12 Chiefs, SpringBoard Program Specialists) to enhance program knowledge and to understand/address their need for sales support tools. Responsibilities will include leading broad communication tools to customers via SpringBoard microsite, E-Newsletter, and other media, and working collaboratively with Marketing and Publication Services, New Media, College Readiness Marketing and other College Board departments to connect SpringBoard with appropriate College Board programs. The Assistant Director will act as the SpringBoard liaison in coordination with College Readiness Marketing, managing outside advertising agencies to plan and execute all marketing, advertising and sales support tools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates communication plans to effectively disseminate program information to SpringBoard districts and to SpringBoard/College Board staff using a variety of media and tools. Develops communication plans to launch new projects and initiatives.
- Creates the SpringBoard E-Newsletter for all customers, trainers, and Region Account Services; Takes the lead on SpringBoard presence on College Board website and SpringBoard microsite; Coordinates the development of Success Stories with key districts and the publication of research documents such as the Research Compendium in coordination with RD projects.
- Ensures alignment and collaboration with College Readiness Marketing to ensure consistency of message. Identifies cross-functional communications opportunities; Cultivates key relationships with K-12 Chiefs and SpringBoard Program Specialists to understand and deliver essential sales support tools and training needs.
- Ensures posting of all SpringBoard documents and sales support items to College Board and Region Account Services Share points; Coordinates, and may develop, state-specific promotional materials for state adoption kits, landing pages and sales presentations.
- Coordinates the creation of all advertising and marketing materials to generate product awareness and promote the sale of SpringBoard products; Prepare schedules and budgets related to sales and marketing projects, publications, and media. Coordinates within College Board and outside vendors as needed.
- Works closely with the College Readiness Marketing Executive Director on cross-functional promotional items, social media and website updates; Coordinates the development of Professional Development / Coaching materials and Purchase Orders.
- Cultivates relationships between the SpringBoard program and professional / national associations (i.e. ASCD, AASA, NASSP, CCSSO, NCTM, NCTE, etc.) in an effort to broaden the awareness of SpringBoard at conference and exhibits in the K-12 marketplace.
- Coordinates the SpringBoard presence at College Board events such as APAC, the National Forum, all regional forums; Coordinates and edits speaker proposals for submission at conferences and identifies/prepares materials for presentations on behalf of SpringBoard; Handles conference registrations for SpringBoard staff; confirms booth set ups/staffing, materials, program advertisements and sponsorships.
- At the request of the Executive Director, represents the SpringBoard program at meetings, training events, negotiations. Works on special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- B.A. or B.S. required.
- 2-3 years experience in marketing or communications, particularly in the K-12 educational market.
- Prior experience in copy writing, budget maintenance and project management required.
