Markets Operation & Risk Manager
In your supervisory capacity you will have sign-off authorities on items related to account opening, account operations and AML/KYC. You will be responsible for conducting independent reviews on Client Advisors to ensure our clients are receiving appropriate advice. You will play a key role in identifying potential risks in the business and managing quality standards of Client Advisors. You will act as representative of Client Advisors in the design of new processes and thus be able to influence the efficiency of our operations. This role involves a variety of tasks and we are looking for a generalist with a wider understanding of Risk Operations Management, ideally with advisory experience, in order to be able to support the development of our business in Australia.
Responsibilities include:
Operation Risk Management Tasks
- Sign-off or review on key business activities, such as account openings or regular account review
- Review and approve authorized set of risk control activities on Client Advisors, e.g. Investment Suitability exceptions such as bulk risk positions
- Sign-off on Statements of Advice requiring Line Management Review
- Perform Quality of Advice Reviews on a sample basis in order to assess appropriateness of advice provided to our clients
- Monitoring of special client arrangements requiring enhanced supervision
- Identify emerging issues / patterns from control/review activities and update Market Management/Functional Heads accordingly to define actions for remediation
- Ensure consistency in control/review standards
- Improve risk awareness of Client Advisors through regular communication and updates
Case management
- Follow-up investigate ad-hoc business / risk related cases on behalf of Market Manager or Location Risk Unit
- Support Client Advisors in escalation of complex business cases and liaise with respective functions in finding a solution
Change Management
- Represent Markets/Client Advisors’ interests in Change-the-Bank Initiatives, which will impact Client Service, Risk Management Operations
- Provide feedback on existing processes/systems and support implementation of process improvements to ensure business effectiveness
Requirements:
- SDIA RG146 accreditation or equivalent as a minimum; Level 1 Level 2 Derivatives accreditation seen as an advantage
- Experience in Wealth Management, ideally with advisory experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role with strong understanding of Risk Management and Regulation
- Well-developed communication skills – written, verbal and non-verbal
- Willingness to handle a broad range of tasks and to work independently
- Ability to work effectively at a fast pace and possess flexibility to meet the demands and expectations of the business needs as they arise
- General confidence with computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office
