Master Data Business Systems Analyst II (SAP)

The Master Data Business Systems Analyst II position is responsible for translation of high-level business requirements into detailed master data requirements and functional specifications for application development or evaluation. The individual will work closely with the project teams to understand and evaluate their technical and functional design and bring perspective into the master data solution design from all architecture domains (process, application, data and security). Responsible for providing thought leadership in the area of master data design and ensuring solutions are integrated across major processes to meet both long and short term objectives. Responsibilities also include configuration, application and integration testing, completing appropriate change management documentation and ensuring appropriate application controls and security are in place. This position also requires project management duties including the creation and maintenance of the project plan, issue log, and the completion of required SDLC deliverables. Additionally, the Senior Business System Analyst is responsible for providing user training, status reporting, recommending business process improvements, and some project team supervision. The functional scope of this position will focus on the Master Data Management domains of Customer, Vendor and Employee. Position Responsibilities: Projects (70%) - Perform system configuration. - Conduct application and master data requirements gathering. - Derive and document master data requirements from application requirements. - Write functional specifications. - Build test plans and perform system testing, work with users and project development teams during the planning, analysis, design, construction, testing, data conversion, and implementation of modifications to or implementation of systems. - Partner with development and deployment teams to ensure that the master data impact of implementations is understood in all phases of the project lifecycle. - Design and document master data solutions that are reliable and sustainable. - Issue resolution. - Create/update and document technical and functional master data architecture. - Ensure that the data architecture includes impacts to downstream systems which may not be within the scope of the project. - Project Management - Create and maintain the master data deliverables including a MD resource plan which includes IT and business resources, provide estimates for project execution as it relates to MD - Proactively work to resolve issues and manage scope, escalate when necessary - Document and track action items - Partner with the Master Data business partners (Maintenance teams and Enterprise Master Data) to ensure that any changes to data configuration or business processes are appropriately documented, approved, and trained. - Develop user documentation in support of project implementations - Participate in on-site engagements when required. Leadership (10%) - Team building - Motivation - Thought leadership in the area of master data management. - Able to work independently and identify areas where collaboration is necessary. Change Management (10%) - Complete change management and SOX documentation. - Communicate system and procedural changes to user through excellent written and oral communication. Process Improvement (10%) - Increase user proficiency and solution utilization. - Evaluate new releases of software from vendors. - Provide education and training to advance the ability of our user community. - Communicate and reinforce standard business process concepts and methodology. - Recommend system or process enhancements. - Establish and maintain relationships with key business area users.
