Material Expeditor
Note: There may be more than one position and the work could be part time or full time.
Upon successful contract award, this position would support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Keyport, Washington. This position is governed by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The Material Expeditor executes the following: locates and moves materials and parts between various buildings and work areas to expedite production shop processing according to pre-determined schedules and priorities, keeps related records, reviews production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer orders, confers with production and support personnel to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials, locates and moves materials to specified production areas, using cart, hand truck, or hand carry and records quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand. Work may include the following tasks: expediting movement of materials between storage and production areas, compare shop order requirements with material at work stations to verify appropriateness of material in use, prepare worker production records and timecards, and may update and maintain inventory records, using computer terminal.
Required Skills:
1. Exclusive US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance immediately upon hiring. Failure to obtain some form of Secret clearance upon hiring will result in immediate termination.
2. Education required: High School diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience
3. Knowledge of and working experience with the Navy Supply Systems regarding requisitioning, tracking, expediting, shipping and status
4. Experience with the preparation and packaging of materials and parts for movement/delivery
5. Demonstrated ability to understand and perform IAW detailed written procedures
6. Ability to lift, handle and carry up to 50 pounds
7. Experience using MS Office Suite/MS Outlook and other computer based applicationsPreferred Skills:
1. Knowledge of required support for Torpedo Depot production processes
2. Knowledge of the Shop Workload Management System (SWMS) program
3. Hazardous material handling training and experience
4. Experience dealing with multiple high priority tasks in a stressful environmental with short time requirements
5. Demonstrated Ability to communicate and consult effectively with Shop and Support personnel
6. Demonstrated performance as an effective member of a successful team.
7. Knowledge and hands on experience with MS Excel/Access programs and databases
