Material Handler
This position is responsible for administrative and physical tasks involved with the shipping, receiving, stocking, material control, distribution, and kitting of raw materials, assemblies, supplies and equipment within the warehouse and manufacturing environments…expedites the flow of raw materials, parts, and assemblies between departments according to production orders, shipping schedules or department priorities. This includes analyzing, maintaining, and ensuring proper transactions and physical movement of material in the stockroom, work-in-process and product development locations. Monitors and maintains the inventory history and accuracy of materials and reports discrepancies to supervisor. Will also administer data entry and look-ups in the company’s operating system with emphasis on ensuring transactional accuracy of all inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform shipping, receiving, material handling, and inventory control functions in a time sensitive manner
· Issues materials to production orders and other unplanned part requisitions using FIFO.
· Puts away parts and other material using defined inventory control and warehousing practices.
· Works closely with production and development personnel to support physical movement and transactional accuracy of materials, sub assemblies and systems.
· Conducts daily, quarterly, and annual cycle counts, and helps to reconcile inventory discrepancies.
· Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
· Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records, such as ERP, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials.
· Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
· Reviews production schedules and related shortage reports to identify overdue material and help fulfill shortages.
· Maintains kanban replenishment system and other point of use distribution methods.
· Supports any regulatory or customer audits of the inventory system.
· Supports Government property management and control activities to ensure continual accountability.
· Performs other related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma and 5 years experience in material handling and inventory control, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Must have in-depth knowledge of warehouse systems and best practices.
· Experience with ERP/MRP systems and storekeeping and inventory control procedures.
· Must be detail-oriented and capable of error free work.
· Must be able to lift up to 50+ lbs
