Material Handler
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To maintain material, parts and supply inventories consistent with company policy and operating plans. To perform duties necessary to ensure efficient delivery of materials to production area, effective management of finished goods and efficient transfer to shipping department.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Maintains inventory levels in manner which will result in a minimum of stock outages, the lowest possible dollar value of inventory, and a minimum of constraints on storage space.
- Ensures that the computerized inventory system is continuously maintained in an up-to-date and accurate manner.
- Ensures that materials are stocked for inventory in the correct locations, manages the transfer of materials to production promptly and efficiently.
- Verifies physical count figures and maintains proper part inventories.
- Maintains all assigned records and is responsible for the accuracy of all inventory transactions.
- Performs inventory cycle counts and audits as required, this must be accomplished by spending time in the warehouse and conducting actual physical counts.
- Seeks and recommends ways to improve inventory control methods and procedures to improve accuracy as directed by company policies.
- Keeps the Production Manager informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for materials management.
- Continually monitors results in relation to approved plans and organizational needs, and takes or recommends appropriate corrective action necessary to obtain the desired results.
- Performs related work as assigned by immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school graduate or equivalent.
· Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Computer literate proficient in MS Excel and word .
· Able to communicate effectively with production personnel and capable of following directions from immediate supervisor.
· Displays a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
REQUIREMENTS FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
· Working knowledge of materials, parts and supply inventories and inventory procedures.
· Ability to perform assigned functions in a timely manner.
· Must be willing to work in a warehouse environment.
· Works safely and keeps warehouse in a neat and orderly condition.
