Material Handling Engineer Job in Burlington L7L5T9, Ontario Canada
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design of structural elements for overhead cranes, jib cranes, hoists, runway systems, and all material handling attachments.
- Design connections with supporting structures (static and dynamic analysis)
- Provide support for customers as required.
- Provide technical support and design advice to sales, service and other departments as required.
- Prepare general arrangement and proposal drawings
- Provide initial design for pricing jobs for sales team
- Coordination between installation and fabrication for design match.
- Lower production costs by ensuring designs are efficient and cost effective
- Assist in standardizing a drawing program wherever practicable.
- Conduct visual inspections on production shop floor and in the field as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering degree
- Professional Engineer required
- Knowledge in both structural and mechanical engineering is an asset
- 10 years experience in an Engineering Department with direct responsibility for the design
- Extensive knowledge in the following areas OBC; CIAC; CSA 23; CMAA and CWB standards.
- Knowledge in AutoCAD, Solid Works; FEA software is an asset.
- Strong presentation, oral, and verbal skills
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives
- Able to create alternative solutions to problems
- Excellent time management and project management skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work primarily in an office environment
- Some travel may be required
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations
- Overtime as required
- May be exposed to construction sites
- Weekend work may be required
