Position Description

 

Position:              Material Planner

Location:              Manufacturing Facility - Calgary, Alberta

Responsible for the creation of production orders, as well as coordination and expediting of production work and materials within or between departments according to the production schedule.

Relationships

Internal Relationships:              Manufacture, Planning, Inventory, Purchasing, Logistics and Engineering.

 

External Relationships: Vendors, Business Units

·         High School graduate

·         Manufacturing or business related higher education qualification

·         APICS, PMAC, or CAPIC designation would be considered an asset

·         Releasing of production orders to production floor and warehouse in a timely manner

·         Reviewing and distributing production, procurement shipment schedule related to Back Orders and GDC orders

·         Conferring with dept. to determine progress or work and completion dates

·         Compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, cost and production issues

·         Responsible for reporting the job as finished and ending it

·         Take a trouble shooting “can do attitude” to smooth out unforeseen events that could hamper project delivery

·         Accountable for ensuring parts are delivered in a timely manner

·         Follows all company policies and procedures

·         Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office ERP system)

·         Materials planning, scheduling, purchasing or inventory experience within a manufacturing environment.

·         Knowledge of MRP, MRPII and Lean Manufacturing techniques is a definite asset

 

·         Display a “can do” high energy attitude

·         Promote teamwork

·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, handling multiple projects of competing priority and work effectively in a fast paced environment

·         Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail

·         Ability to drive and maintain target dates

·         Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

·         Ability to read engineered drawings.
