The Materials Buyer is responsible for the following functions, including but not limited to:
- Daily review of component inventories to ensure proper quantities exist to support manufacturing; orders production material as required.
- Processes and monitors releases on all incoming purchased product.
- Tracks and reports all expedites in a timely manner for supplier performance purposes.
- Works directly with Production Scheduling, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Receiving, and Suppliers to ensure timely and adequate component delivery.
- Monitors internal inventories for accuracy as necessary, reporting any discrepancies found.
- Confirms daily shipments with suppliers as needed to ensure timely delivery; schedules transportation.
- Communicates any problems/concerns with suppliers to appropriate personnel; reports any problems that may cause manufacturing downtime.
- Tracks supplier performance to schedule and reports results to Materials and Purchasing management.
- Ensures build-outs, engineering changes, and launches are clearly communicated to supply bases to minimize obsolete stock.
- Responsible for all NAFTA requirements.
- Maintain TS16949/ISO14001 policies, procedures, work instructions and forms.
Candidates should have the following qualifications and/or experience:
- Computer skills including Word, Excel, database management.
- Associates degree or higher.
- Automotive manufacturing experience a plus.
