Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Materials Manager assumes responsibility for purchasing, inventory and production scheduling activities. Oversees the master schedule, schedules shipments, plans and forecasts work order, and optimizes inventory management while ensuring aggressive lead times and customer on time delivery. Supports other departments in all matters relating to production planning.

Specifically, the Materials Manager:

  • Oversees the coordination of all Purchasing, Scheduling, and Inventory team activities
  • Maintains and recommends optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation costs
  • Responsible for managing planning personnel in transacting of daily activities such as work order scheduling, material movements, inventory levels, delivery dates, and processing of samples to meet monthly shipment budget
  • Assumes responsibility for on time delivery, quick ships, and sales expedites
  • Identifies material cost savings opportunities
  • Develop and achieve monthly shipment goals to meet sales budgets and customer OTD performance
  • Manages product forecast based on customer demands and requirements
  • Maintains standard lead times for processing material through manufacturing department areas
  • Works closely with production to evaluate and maintain capacity requirements
  • Responsible for department and shipment budget accountability

    Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, preferably in a technical discipline
  • 5 years minimum experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment
  • 2 years minimum experience in a management or supervisory role
  • Lean Manufacturing techniques and principles
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all staff levels
  • Detail oriented with a professional manner
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively deal with external parties including suppliers
  • Familiar with several mechanical commodities including CNC and Swiss Machining, Injection Molding, Precious Metal Plating, Electronic components and Cable/Harness assembly
  • Ability to analyze and handle complex Scheduling, Production and Inventory issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate and manage multiple global manufacturing locations, including Mexico and Asia
