Mechanical Design Engineer
SUMMARY:
Researches, develops, designs and tests mechanical or electromechanical instruments by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs mechanical product design, development, and testing.
Evaluates design quality and reliability to ensure end-customer satisfaction.
Prepares and reviews product-related documentation and tests manufacturing procedures.
Participates in design reviews, technical presentations, technical procedure development, and other aspects of product design documentation and training.
Communicates with internal departments, customers, and vendors in matters related to product design and development.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. 3-5 years experience and/or training in the mechanical design of process analytical instruments.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Candidate should also have experience in the design, development, and testing of product packaging and/or sampling systems. Computer-aided design tools, preferably Solid Works and AutoCad. Properties of materials as applied to product design. Heat transfer and thermal design considerations. Design for manufacturability. Industry standard design practices when using sheet metal, castings, extrusions, plastics, screws, fasteners, and springs. Product safety and compliance standards. Use of personal computers and related application software such as word processors, spreadsheets, and communications programs. Product verification and validation testing. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Candidate must possess the ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently. Must be action oriented, ethical in value and have a strong customer focus.
Minimal travel required: 5-10%
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
