Mechanical Designer Category: Engineer Type: Contract Description: The Mechanical Designer is responsible for completing mechanical designs for piping systems, structural components, vessels, and machines in support of facilities, laboratories, and pilot plants. Activities include the creation of mechanical designs as well as the associated drawings, bills of materials, and fabrication/installation scopes of work. Responsibilities may include: Responsibilities for a Mechanical Designer in the Facilities Engineering organization include but are not limited to: * Perform all work safely and ethically, comply with company policies and complete HSE and other training requirements * Create mechanical designs that are safe to install and safe to operate * Create CAD drawings to represent all aspects of design, including Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, machine details, plans, elevations, and others * Contact clients, develop scopes of work (including gathering field information), and design solutions to meet the needs of the groups supported. Estimate material and fabrication/installation costs when required. * Apply knowledge of industry and company standards to design activities * Utilize drafting conventions and techniques using company CAD software (AutoCAD or MicroStation) * Work with others in the labs and pilot plants; must have the ability to climb ladders and stairs and wear Personal Protective Equipment Requirements: Basic/Required: * Legally authorized to work in the United States * Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent degree * 3 years experience in mechanical design or related field * Proficient with CAD software * Familiarity with industry codes and standards Preferred: * 5 years experience in mechanical design or related field with at least two years experience in piping and/or structural design * Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation a plus * Ability to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities * Strong communication skills, verbal and written * Motivated self starter * Able to organize and prioritize work and manage several projects simultaneously * Proficient in Microsoft Office software Location Bartlesville, OK Minimum Experience (yrs): 5 Required Education: Associate Salary: Open Benefits:
