Mechanical Designer

Our customer located in Southwestern Ontario is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer who will work under the supervision of the Project Manager. The ability to schedule and manage workload, meet schedules and target dates must be demonstrated. It will be important to demonstrate professional competence when dealing with clients, consultants, suppliers, sub-contractors and other individuals within the company.
 
Key responsibilities:

§  Produce mechanical design drawings in the following areas: General Equipment Layouts, Equipment Foundation   Drawings, PID's, Piping
§  Produce and maintain detailed and workshop drawings for sheet metal components, structural steel, industrial process water piping, air ducting and ventilation equipment
§  Create and maintain Bills of Materials
§  Plot and reproduce drawings, as required
§  Schedule assigned work to achieve project target completion dates
§  Assist with evaluation of sub-contractor quotations against specifications and make technical recommendations
§  Assist with inspections and witness testing at vendors' plants
§  Provide technical data to other departments for use in preparing tenders or requests for quotations
§  Ensure correct and consistent application of established Quality Assurance standards
§  Carry out design work in accordance with required standards and recognized best practices

Required Qualifications Experience:

§  College or University education in Engineering
§  Minimum of five (5) years of experience and knowledge of mechanical design in all aspects of equipment and systems associated with industrial / environmental machinery such as air cleaning and waste water treatment
§  Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor Modelling and AutoCAD
§  Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word/Excel/Visio)
§  Ability to work reliably and efficiently in a team
§  Ability to travel as required (10-20%)
