Mechanical Engineer (Asset Lifecycle Manager)

Director of Facilities
Job Summary:
HHMI's Janelia Farm Research Campus is looking for a dynamic Asset Lifecycle Manager (ALM) as an addition to our Facilities team. The ALM is the Facilities lead on asset life-cycle, major maintenance and program maintenance decisions, and on execution of such work. As such, this position is the departmental subject matter expert (SME) on the condition and status of campus assets and on the campus Facility Condition Assessment program. This position forms part of the departments internal governance team.
This position is further the manager of the day-to-day interface between the Facilities and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) departments.
Principal Responsibilities:
Development of a sound understanding of the campus Facility Condition Assessment program and of the condition of key campus assets
Leading of the department's response to major maintenance and asset lifecycle issues
In conjunction with FM team, and with respect to campus buildings, building systems and major maintenance issues, manage facility-related:
o Change control discipline and documentation
o Corrective Action / Preventive Action (CAPA) and continuous improvement activities
o Planning and budgeting of major initiatives
Management of the day-to-day interface between the Facilities and EHS departments
Periodic review of FM team service levels and compliance with required standards
Other work in support of Facilities' mission as directed by Facilities Department management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree; Bachelor's preferred
- 15 years experience in building operations, maintenance or project execution in a regulated GxP environment
- Direct experience with asset lifecycle (replace / repair) decisions
- Direct experience with successful major maintenance projects
- Direct experience with execution of work under change control, CAPA and continuous improvement disciplines and practices
- Direct experience with generation, collation, review and transfer of technical project documentation
- Direct experience in a performance-based metrics-driven facilities management environment
