Mechanical Engineer Job in Allentown, Pennsylvania US

The incumbent is accountable for non-rotating mechanical equipment design for construction of new Energy plants. This includes providing direction to outside engineering contractors worldwide and performing critical technical reviews of their work.

Typical scope includes furnaces, boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, bulk material handling equipment, materials selection and quality control.

The incumbent shall follow Companys work processes, comply with Engineering Procedures, work instructions, specifications and standards.

The incumbent may work on several projects simultaneously, helping to ensure the best value proposition necessary and maximize profit consistent with commercial objectives.

The incumbent will likely work with outside engineering and contracting firms (EPC?s) and/or joint venture owners and partners.

 

The business is global in nature and may require travel to Asia, Europe, Canada or other US domestic locations.

Potential travel domestically and internationally (10% estimated)

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Providing direction to outside engineering contractors worldwide and performing critical technical reviews of their work.

2. Supporting cross functional technology and project development teams; interface with multi-functional engineering groups both within Company and with outside engineering firms or with energy technology equipment suppliers to identify technical solutions.

3. Accountable for conceptual design, detailed design, pilot scale demonstration for new technology implementation, safety review, technical support during commercialization and startup coordination.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

? BS Mechanical Engineer with 5 plus years of diverse engineering experience and hands-on skills.

? The successful candidate should have experience performing detailed design of pressurized equipment. This requires a working knowledge of ASME VIII Div.1, TEMA Standards, and API Standards.

? The ideal candidate will also have some experience with ASME B31.3 piping design, and piping flexibility analysis in particular.

? Experience with international codes and standards are a plus.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are an asset, as our project work supports a global business.

Individual should have an interest in working on challenging technical problems which require innovative solutions, by collaborating with other team members in engineering and RD.
