Mechanical Engineer Job in Montreal, Quebec Canada
CDI offers a full range of outsourcing solutions and professional staffing to the Canadian Aerospace, Transportation and Technology markets. We are currently searching for Mechanical Engineer for a one of our clients in the transportation industry in Montreal. This will be for a contract position.
Description:
For equipment modifications and occasionally for major complex programs:
- Defines the scope of work and confirms feasibility based on the originator’s requirements.
- Performs the necessary detailed calculations to develop a preliminary design.
- Develops schedules and estimates material, labor, and engineering costs.
- For large projects, develops a work breakdown structure.
- Validates the design and costs by overseeing a prototype installation with unionized labor.
- Finalizes the design and prepares the fleet modification instructions along with the required specifications, requisitions, and tender documents.
- Defines and approves internal and external design.
- Ensures that system safety aspects are respected in the design process.
- Establishes the quality and environmental program requirements as well as performing health and safety impact assessments.
- Supports the procurement activities.
Documentation:
- Verify and approve drawings and schematics.
- Prepares Bills of Material and Material Stocking Requests for the modifications and programs.
- Prepares Service Bulletins for configuration changes.
Act as liaison with contractors and with shop floor personnel:
- Oversees the technical development of prototypes.
- Interfaces with consultants to ensure they comply with the scope of work.
- Leads design reviews for contracted work.
Requirements:
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of pertinent experience.
- Microsoft Office, CAD software (AutoCad LT)
- Experience with Electro-pneumatic railway doors steps and door operators
Would be assets to have:
- Railway or heavy transportation equipment experience.
- Broad exposure to compressed air systems and pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
- Knowledge of railway vehicle dynamics, and instrumentation and testing.
- Knowledge of casting methods
- Knowledge of Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and hydrostatic systems.
- Knowledge of welding, metallurgy, and stress and failure analysis.
- Knowledge of NDT techniques
