Mechanical Engineer
Cargotec, the leading global supplier of container load handling equipment and services, has an immediate opening in their MacGregor Marine division for a Mechanical Engineer. This role will be based in Houston, TX and will report to the VP Sales/Marketing. Cargotec's brands, Hiab, Kalmar, Bromma and MacGREGOR, are international market leaders in their fields and their solutions are used on land and at sea - wherever cargo is on the move. In this role, you will be responsible for the engineering design and development of a quality product; troubleshoot field problems and interface with Service; RD of new designs and testing of prototype structures, and interfacing with Sales, Service and Quality. Maintaining productive team and customer relationships as well as ensuring Best Practices are applied in all Engineering related activities. Essential Duties Responsibilities: - Design and facilitate manufacturing of product. - Interface with Sales and customers of research and development - Develop new products effectively and safely with performance in mind - Provide engineering service to all departments - Investigate alternate methods of material requirements - Assist the Sales Department to prepare technical literature - Administer Engineering and Company operating procedures - Supervise prototype testing - Investigate field problems for necessity of design changes and or field conversions - Analysis of field failure - Initiate and support the quality approach of design - Develop and maintain design records and manufacturing drawings per procedures - Know and understand Cargotec's Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions - Understand and comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements - Perform all other duties as required by Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job Knowledge, Qualifications and Attitudes - Bachelor's Degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred - Computer literate/knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Auto-Cad - Good knowledge of product function and application - Supervisory and leadership skills - Organizational skills - Communication skills both oral and written - Ability to work with others Competencies: - Seeking candidate with Strong technical knowledge and experience working with Mechanical structures, Hydraulics, Electrical, and Electronics; - Prior experience working on MacGregor equipment or similar hydraulic cranes helpful, but not required. - Customer-oriented - Able to cope with stressful situations - Able to make decisions independently - Good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills - Highly proficient computer skills Cargotec offers a competitive compensation and benefit package, including 401(k), Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance plans, paid vacation and 9 paid holidays.
