Purpose of the Position
Responsible for submitting and managing all rail clearances, Auto CAD drawings, and ordering railcars for all projects. To ensure sales and operations are successful with clearing dimensional loads by rail throughout North America. To work cooperatively with sales team in projects involving rail, barge, and ground transportation to ensure the best mode of transportation is being utilized for operational success.
Reports to Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
Ø Prepares and monitors clearance log sheet.
Ø Places all drawing in proper quote and project files.
Ø Ensures all drawings and clearance files are in project folders and field folders before execution.
Ø Responsible for creating all drawing required for current projects to include some of the following; side view drawing, tie down drawing, front view drawing, weld strength, etc.
Ø Review the tie down drawings with the field supervisor and project manager prior to execution.
Ø Support project manager during loading and tie down phase.
Ø Follow up and check all drawings with proper information (i.e. weight, series, COG).
Ø Submits all rail clearances to the railroads and monitors them with the clearance log.
Ø Responsible for reviewing clearances for movement of equipment’s through railroads.
Ø Order rail cars based on clearance information and verify weight limitations on assigned cars.
Ø Notifies Project Manager or Sales Rep. of issues involving clearance before and during project execution and submits solutions to key leaders.
Ø Verifies railcar series for all projects and ensures availability with project managers/operations prior to submitting clearance.
Ø Supports operations and sales in looking up rail routes and confirm feasibility of route.
Ø Assists Sales and Operations teams in looking for rail sidings at origin and destination.
Ø Conducts public relations with all railroad clearance departments to include short line railroads when necessary on clearance issues and updates
Ø Responsible for receiving all dimensions prior to quoting to ensure correct dimensions are translated from metric to English.
Ø Receives requests from sales teams on commodities and starts initial drawings for clearance request when requested.
Ø Assist with sales department as needed.
Ø Any other duties as assigned.
