Posted Position Title: Mechanical Engineer / Technologist Career Level: Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Florida City: Pinellas Park Postal Code: 33782-6110 Relocation Assistance No Role Summary/Purpose: The Mechanical Design Engineer / Technologist provides technical expertise to support development of embedded Avionics products through new business pursuits, project execution, and post design support. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for yourself and others, and have the ability to effect business goals. Essential Responsibilities - Execute the design of assigned mechanical projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements - Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project - Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures to include engineering / fabrication drawings consistent with ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices and ASME Y14.5M Dimensioning and Tolerancing - Create and maintain mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) library parts - Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments - Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues - Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews - Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated by other mechanical team members for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures - Participate in proposal development as a mechanical packaging expert, steering the mechanical design, thermal, vibration, and other environmental design philosophy in the preferred direction and advising team members of the risks related to trade study choices - Utilize knowledge of the fabrication processes using CNC machining, sheet metal, glued and screwed assemblies - Conduct and participate in peer reviews requiring mechanical inputs Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Design from an accredited university or college ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - Willingness and ability to travel at least 10% of the time - Willingness and ability to obtain a Security Clearance - This position requires access to controlled technology. To abide by Export Compliance regulations, candidates must have either US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Alien Status. Solidworks, AutoCAD - Experience in embedded Military and Commercial Avionics product development - Experience with embedded product development lifecycle within Aerospace or similar controlled industry - Willingness and motivation to learn new processes and tools - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - Ability to participate in a team in a highly matrix environment - Ability to participate several projects simultaneously - Proven analytical and organizational ability - Capable of developing and writing specifications in an engineering environment - Familiarity and experience with state-of-the-art model-based development, digital hardware / software implementation, testing, and robustness methods - Accept work direction from internal and external Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) members - Participate in a team as team player - Experience participating in requirements definition and trace, design implementation, documentation, testing, verification and production support efforts - Ability to tailor process and limit scope on project to provide the most cost effective solution to internal and external customers - American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 tolerance analysis experience - Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems - Familiarity with Military Standard (MIL STD) design requirements and specifications - Strong planning and organizational skills - Willingness to take ownership of projects - Ability to manage concurrent assignments - Personal Computer (PC) proficiency (Microsoft Office) Why join one great company when you can join many?
