Mechanical Engineers-Calibration Job in Detroit, Michigan US
Positions with our automotive Client:
1. Powertrain Engineer; (calibration, EGR, OBD)
Responsibilities involve design, calibration and validation of air / EGR / base engine OBD monitors in an engine dyno and/or vehicle test environment to relevant regulation requirements while ensuring adequate engine / ATS hardware protection. Also to provide OBD MU impact assessments of engine hardware and performance fuel map changes coming from production tooling, cost / warranty reduction initiatives, design changes, performance fuel map evolution, and to review data and provide input/direction on the resolution of issues with OBD monitors coming from test cells, engineering vehicles, RG and CDUs.
Basic Qualifications
BSME with 3+ years Experience with heavy duty engines and with OBD regulations and compliance requirements preferred
2. Fuel Map Calibration Engineer:
Refine engine calibration for the cold start fuel map.
Regularly check and validate cold start maps in trucks and communicate issues.
Responsible for maintaining an efficient and effective operation of the test cells amongst
Solid technical grasp of engine performance, combustion, and thermodynamic fundamentals, including work with engine data acquisition and analysis techniques and tools required
Ability to analyze combustion system pressure and temperature measurements during cold starts to improve define best starting / emissions economy combustion system required
Willingness to travel national and international for several weeks to support vehicle summer and winter test activities required
Product engineering experience with engine/ powertrain design, development, and release systems preferred
Knowledge of waste heat recovery systems and their interaction with engine and exhaust aftertreatment systems preferred
Technical grasp and/or experience of turbocharger development, efficiencies and diesel fuel injection systems preferred
Knowledge of hybrid systems and their interaction with internal combustion engines and exhaust aftertreatment systems preferred
BSME with 3+ years of directly applicable engine engineering experience required
