Mechanical Lead
Responsibilities:
- Plans and defines strategic and financial goals, determines the resources required to achieve them, and directs effort to acquire and retain those resources
- Maintains/controls operating budget as presented by corporate management
- Identifies project opportunities and assists in developing proposals
- Participates in writing and review of all major proposals affecting the discipline
- Provides technical consultation to customer and Company management as needed
- Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the assigned discipline
- Sets standards and goals; formulates/implements policies and procedures
- Ensures compliance with all Human Resources policies; recommends additions or revisions as appropriate
- Keeps abreast of current technology germane to the discipline
- Participates in professional organizations; may prepare and present technical papers at meetings and seminars
- Plans, directs, and manages the annual salary increase budget within the constraints of corporate policy; approves all salary actions, monitors actual increases against budget throughout the year; approves hiring/termination recommendations; reviews and signs annual performance reviews
- Provides training and development for assigned employees
- Coordinates discipline's activity with pertinent external groups such as regulatory agencies as necessary
- Completes other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Requirements:
- BS or MS in related field or applicable discipline, typically an engineering degree; or equivalent experience
- Expert knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted procedures
- Typically minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; relevant professional registration preferred
- Recognized as a functional expert and thought leader within the department and broader organization
- Anticipates complex internal and external business issues with impact on the organization and can recommend innovative program and/or program solutions
- Contributes to strategic program development
- Proficient with engineering software applications; Computer proficiency required; Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail important. Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities somewhat important
- The ability to prepare and present complex program proposals and reports to senior level management and customers is critical
- Ability to establish project estimates and oversight of project budgets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential to effectively teach what they know to other employees
- Commitment to customer service and ability to guide department personnel in partnership with and during manager's absence is essential
- Ability to maintain confidential information critical
- Generally characterized as a "Leader" or "Technical Specialist" with the ability to technically advise and guide the department program design and development
- Leads complex and often cross-functional project teams
- Typically will regularly interface with departmental staff and upper management, and frequently with outside customers

Reporting and Location:
- The position reports to the Engineering Manager.
