Posted Position Title: Mechanical Staff Engineer - Rotating Machinery Career Level: Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Ohio City: Vandalia Postal Code: 45377-3062 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose: The Staff Engineer / Technologist will provide technical leadership in all aspects of the high-speed rotating equipment design for aerospace projects from conception to production transition involving significant scope and complexity with emphasis on performing analyses. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to mentor team, solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. Essential Responsibilities In this role, you will: - Provide technical leadership and coaching to team, drive short term and long term strategy - Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements - Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project - Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments - Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues - Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews - Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures - Drive high quality design reviews and entry / exit criteria - Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering - Minimum of 12 years of experience in an engineering position ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Desired Characteristics - Masters Degree from accredited university or college - Ability to perform thermal and vibration finite element analyses using ANSYS software - Experience in Design and/or analysis of rotating machinery - Generator / motor design experience - Aerospace component design experience - Perform stackups on layout and check detail drawings with G,D T - Design for shock and high vibration in aerospace environments - Environmental and performance qualification of products - Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems - Solid oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - PC proficiency - Ability to write test procedures and test reports - Understanding of Design for Manufacturing - Understanding of manufacturing cost and reproducibility - Experience with Unigraphics CAD Why join one great company when you can join many?
