Job Description: Performs and reports clinical laboratory testing using a variety of semi-automated and manual technologies. Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of test results, initial trouble-shooting of problems, instrument maintenance, and following safe laboratory practices. Works with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to provide efficient and timely reporting of results. Assists with patient care activities in some locations, under Registered Nurse supervision. Basic Qualifications: Requires a minimum of an Associates degree in the Sciences of Medical Laboratory Technology or B.S. or B.A. in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or other regulating agency preferred. Additional relevant laboratory experience and familiarity with laboratory terminology is preferred. Able to work closely with others and demonstrates solid interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of working in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment. Able to work effectively with a diverse work group. Willing to work in a rapidly changing work unit. Able to work independently on off-shifts. Capable of handling stress of producing accurate results under time constraints. Willing to accommodate schedule adjustments, including PM and weekend assignments as workload dictates. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers. Experience with operation and troubleshooting of lab equipment is preferred. Must be highly organized, efficient and multifunctional with the ability to work independently. Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hours/Pay Period: Supplemental Schedule Details: Non-guaranteed hours, non-benefited position.
