Assists in the delivery of primary health services and patient care management in any clinical setting for physicians and mid-level practitioners (Nurse Practitioners, Physician’s Assistants, CRNAs) as needed. Two positions: One will travel with the doctor to several locations in Central Dallas and Frisco(1 day/wk). Other will coordinate lab services, including sleep study referrals, urine drug testing and Rx refills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
1. Performs selected nursing and administrative duties as designated by physician or other practitioner.
2. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Records patients’ histories and subjective current status and vital signs as needed.
3. Initiates medical record notation for patient visits, both in paper and electronic chart. Completes documentation as directed by provider.
4. Answers telephone, take off voice mail messages, respond to calls per direction of providers, and refer callers to the appropriate individual.
5. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies and medications.
6. Gives injections, applies dressings, assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and procedures.
7. Participates in educating, teaching and counseling patients to follow provider directions and promote optimal well being and health.
8. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments.
9. Orders and maintains proper inventory of clinical supplies and equipment.
10. Maintains patient files, records and other information with strict confidentiality.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
· Knowledge of organization policies, procedures and systems.
· Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
· Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
· Knowledge of medical equipment, medications and instruments
· Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
· Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and settings
· Skill in computer applications including MS Word and MS Excel.
· Skill in verbal and written communication and maintaining records.
· Skill in gathering and reporting information.
· Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians and patients
· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
· Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level.
· Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate from accredited program for Medical Assistants program, professional certification preferred.
- Prefer experience in a physician’s office.
