MULTI-SPECIALTY CODER
JOB SUMMARY:
Full-Time Multi-Specialty procedural coding of outpatient professional charges in a few of the following multi-specialty areas: Pain Management, Urology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Vascular.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review and have knowledge on how to correctly assign CPT, ICD-9, and HCPC codes
- Ability to understand and follow compliance issues of moderate complexity
- Must possess moderate knowledge of CCI edits and LCD's and be able to accurately apply regulation knowledge to coding situations
- Will process denials and write appeals
- Function as a resource for moderately complex coding and error resolution concerns for other ALN employees
- Assist other employees with coding and error resolution
- Provide audit, evaluation and management services for clients
- Must be able to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group format to peers
- Must be able to provide education to client providers on coding guidelines
- Assist with supervisory responsibilities of the department
- Maintain the company accuracy rate of 95% weekly
- Maintain strictest confidentiality
- Perform related work as required

- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and coding
- Knowledge of third party reimbursement regulations and billing practices a plus
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
- Detail oriented with the ability to identify and resolve problems
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with co-workers
- Ability to work as a team member in all activities
- Conduct self in an ethical, honest, and professional manner
- Demonstrate continued willingness to learn and grow
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- CCS-P or CPC-P or equivalent certification a plus
- Vascular coding experience a plus
- Must be able to work Full-Time Monday-Friday for 40 hours a week
