Medical Design Engineer III-Knees

 

 

This candidate will be responsible for ensuring that fit, form, function, technical integrity manufacturability are met during the product design development process. The main goals of this role are to consider customer requirements, design inputs specifications into novel and innovative products for instruments and implants as well as verification activities. The candidate may also act in a design team lead fashion for work management, supervision, and develop design standards for the company. He/She will work with manufacturing engineers suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly.  The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the application of design and drafting standards, as well as complex 3D modeling skills using NX.  May develop detailed drawings and provide drafting support to associates. The candidate will also develop expert knowledge of our product lines and detailed knowledge of various musculo-skeletal pathologies.

 

Qualifications

·         B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar.

·         4 years work experience in product design / development or engineering is required. 

·         Experience in design and development of orthopedic medical devices preferred. 

·         Candidate must have demonstrated expertise in various types of mechanisms, materials, GDT and drafting standards.

·         Proficiency of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.

·         Must provide advanced design technical engineering expertise and solutions for mechanical and mechanical process interaction issues. 

·         Ability to conceptualize ideas and understand inadequacies of designs. 

·         Track record of effectively working within a cross-functional team bringing products from concept to launch is required.  Must have the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals, surgeons, customers and suppliers.

·          The ability to review and critically assess patents and other forms of intellectual property is preferred

·          10 % Travel Required
