EndoGastric Solutions, Inc. currently has an opportunity in Redmond, WA for a Senior Research Development Engineer who will be responsible for highly complex research, development, testing and implementation of mechanical systems and systems designs with human factor considerations for medical products/devices.

 

·         Coordinate and develop a variety of small to medium sized projects as part of a broader business plan.

·         Provide in-depth technical support and consistently generate and implement innovative and unique solutions to complex technical problems.  These activities will result in the development of new or refined products, processes or equipment that are practical and manufacturable.

·         Invent prototypes and reduce to practice concepts in a rapid prototyping environment to broaden EGS’s Intellectual Property in key strategic areas.

·         Interface with physicians, nurses, and technicians to identify needs and problems and then provide timely responses.  Convert needs into product concepts and functioning prototypes.

·         Demonstrate PDP system knowledge through delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables.

·         Interact with Marketing, Sales, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to assist with resolution of manufacturing issues associated with product design.

·         Plan and execute laboratory research

 

Position Requirements:

·         BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline plus ten or more years of directly related experience in disposable medical device development.  MS/PhD may substitute for related industry experience.

·         Experience providing leadership and supervision in a team environment.

·         Experience in the design and development of highly complex instruments used in the medical device field desired including laparoscopic and/or endoscopic surgical instruments catheters and other related mechanistic medical device platforms.

·         Training and expertise in a discipline related to high volume disposable medical device development, i.e., polymer engineering and processing, joining methods, metals, etc.

·         Working knowledge of high volume, low cost medical grade fabricating processes and future trends including molding, overmolding, materials selection and new materials technology.

·         Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, ergonomics and human factors engineering.

·         Demonstrated experience generating and checking technical documentation such as design drawings, Risk Analysis, SOPs, PRDs, MCRDs, DHFs, DOEs, DFMEA, verification and validation test procedures and reports per FDA design controls.

·         Experience building and bench testing complex prototypes

·         Fluent ability to create complex 3D surface and solid models in SolidWorks using DFM and GDT principles

·         Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, drawing, statistical software

·         Previous experience in a “start-up” working environment

·         Ability to work on tight timelines with minimal supervision.
