Medical Director-National Accounts-OptumHealth-Great Telecommuting Opportunity Job in Atlanta, Georgia US

The Medical Director- National Accounts, OptumHealth, will be responsible for implementing strategy, helping to acquire and retain customers, improve the quality and outcomes of the consumers navigating care delivered by the provider network, and improve relationships between various stakeholder organizations. S/he is expected to primarily support the UMR third party administrator commercial custom business, however may support case reviews in Fully Insured, Key Accounts, Medicare, or Medicaid business based on need.

Specific Responsibilities

-Conducts provider telephonic review and discussion, schedules on-site visits and shares tools, information and guidelines related to cost-effective health care delivery and quality of care
-Clinical lead for healthcare affordability initiatives
-Support clinical quality initiatives and peer review processes
-Effectively engage and bring understanding to our external constituents such as physicians, hospitals, and employers
-Deliver the clinical value proposition focused on quality, affordability and service, in support of the sales and growth activities and participating in customer consultations
-Will lead weekly case review conferences
-Participates in Quarterly Business Reviews
-Initiates ad Hoc meetings as needed for medical cost trend management
Occasionally travels to new or existing clients to review or discuss medical management capabilities and performance.

-MD or DO with an active, unrestricted license
-Board Certified in an ABMS or AOBMS specialty
-5+ years clinical practice experience
-Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with managed care
-Demonstrated knowledge of evidence based medicine and ability to impact medical cost
