The dosimetrist wi The dosimetrist will participate in the maintenance, expansion, and quality assurance of the clinic. This will include participation in many areas of radiation oncology physics from patient simulation to treatment planning to quality control. The position will also include participation in the growth of the center and its ability to provide state of the art patient care. Responsibilities: 1) Consultation with physicians, physicists and radiation therapists, with the goal of obtaining optimum treatment approach for each patient, including design of treatment plan, radiation beam placement and patient immobilization method 2) Calculation of beam-on times and of point doses to confirm correct delivery of dose to prescription sites 3) Individualized computer-aided treatment planning techniques for external beams of photons and/or electrons 4) Quality assurance of dose calculations and treatment plans to ensure correct implementation of the prescription 5) Collaboration with radiation oncologists and therapists during CT simulation to ensure proper patient setup, scan parameters, and the quality of all necessary information for transfer to the treatment planning computer 6) Outlining of normal (non-target) structures on CT scans and transfer of CT data to the treatment planning computer 7) Performance of CT-MR-PET fusion as requested by the physician 8) Performance of in vivo patient dosimetry measurements as requested by a physician 9) Arrangement for the timely design and fabrication of individualized treatment devices such as custom blocking 10) Modification of custom blocking, beam-on times, and treatment plans, at the request of the attending radiation oncologist 11) Assistance at patient setup wherever indicated to confirm correct treatment technique including use of wedges and other beam modifiers 12) Weekly physics checking of patient charts to maintain correct delivery of the radiation prescriptions as needed 13) Participation in weekly chart rounds as needed to ensure adequate physics quality assurance
CMD or CMD eligible as defined by the MDCB or B.S. degree in Physics or related science or an Associate’s Degree in Radiation Therapy Dosimetry, or an Associate’s Degree in Radiation Therapy Technology with 3 years’ experience
