Dell Inc. is a global provider of information technology solutions. We are currently looking for a Medical Records Coder III to join our team in Flagstaff, AZ.

Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Records Coder III will perform code assignment to all pertinent diagnoses and procedures performed. This process is accomplished by utilizing ICD-9-cm and CPT4 in the 3M encoder and other valid resources. All AHA Coding Clinic Guidelines are followed and are on line in 3M. All Medicare guidelines, HSAG guidelines and the AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding are followed.

Additional Responsibilities

Gather and evaluate billable encounter forms to determine their acceptability for billing

Process unacceptable encounter forms, read and interpret medical record documentation to identify all diagnoses and all services and procedures performed during the encounter

Correctly assign ICD and CM codes to all diagnoses identified and CPT and HCPCS codes to all procedures identified

Referencing and applying diagnostic coding and reporting guidelines for outpatient services appropriately

Apply knowledge of payer guidelines to ensure optimal reimbursement while refusing to unfairly maximize reimbursement by unbundling or upcoding

Mentors more junior team members

Maintains patient confidentiality

Responsible for attending meetings and inservices to enhance coding knowledge, compliance skills, and maintenance of credentials

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Minimum of 3 years Inpatient/Outpatient coding experience

Trained and have credentials as required by the job description

Knowledge of medical terminology

Must be able to proficiently utilize chart abstracting software and Cerner applications related to the coding functions

Works carefully and precisely, with a strong attention to detail

Communicates effectively with internal and external customers (patients, co-workers, physicians, etc)

Knowledge of required and regulatory coding guidelines

Knows and follows all the rules of the HIPAA

Desired Skills:

Current and complete continuing education related to their credentials and regulatory changes related to codes

Experience with querying physicians and participating in coding quality audits quarterly

Minimum Educational Requirements:

2 year associates degree or CCS, CPC Coding related certification

Minimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:

2 year associates degree or CCS, CPC Coding related certification
