Medical Technologist Job in Dayton 45439, Ohio US

This is a part-time, 2nd shift position (0.5 FTE; 8 hour shifts; 5 days per two-week pay period). Workshift is 3pm - 11pm.

Through multi-tasking and teamwork, we support the complex and unique services offered by Miami Valley Hospital: a Level 1 Trauma center; a Level 3 NICU; the kidney transplant program, dialysis service, open heart surgeries, and the only intrauterine transfusion program in Dayton, OH.

We utilize state-of-the-art, automated testing (ABO, Rh, antibody screen) and perform a wide range of blood bank testing procedures. This year, we expect to transfuse 16,000 units of red blood cells, type and screen 30,000 units, and prepare 600 transfusions for newborns.

We are responsible for following department policies and procedures as we:

1. Perform all tests in an accurate and efficient manner following established policies and procedures.

2. Perform and record daily and/or routine maintenance and quality control on all equipment or reagents used for testing.

3. Recognize problems with instruments, reagents, test results and/or supplies and initiates problem solving procedures.

4. Record all results in an accurate, complete and readable format, utilizes computer systems correctly to generate results and notifies clients appropriately of panic value results.

5. Address client-related questions and problems in a courteous and efficient manner, following department policies and procedures.

6. Participate in training of new employees and students in appropriate technical areas.

7. Comply with all corporate integrity and safety policies of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories.

8. Contribute to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories by performing other duties as required.

Job Skills/Requirements
Bachelors in Medical Technologist with ASCP certification preferred. Recent blood transfusion service experience in a full-service BTS laboratory is helpful.
