Medical Technologist contractor needed for renowned pharmaceutical client in Waltham, MA.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:
The incumbent will operate in a biopharmaceutical discovery and safety assessment environment and assist in the conduct of experiments/studies that will include investigative, problem-solving and pre-development studies in support of research teams. Studies may be conducted within Safety Assessment-US in or at other sites within Global Safety Assessment groups in the UK and Sweden, or at external academic or contract labs. Work closely with pathologists, research scientists and molecular toxicologists. Core clinical pathology (hematology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis) parameters are currently performed by a contract research organization (CRO). The incumbent will be primarily responsible for clinical pathology input on study design, study implementation, and the management of the clinical pathology outsourcing activity. Option exists to perform in-house analysis of hematology samples using in-house Seimens Diagnostics Advia 120. The position has the possibility to convert to full time based on budgetary climate and performance by the incumbent.

Working hours: 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Responsibilities:
-Represent Clinical Pathology as a liaison to scientists and planning meetings to coordinate study scheduling and sample requirements for seamless sample collection and processing
-Ensure timely processing and data analysis of hematology, clinical chemistry, and urine samples
-Manage Clinical Pathology outsourcing activities to include interaction with CRO, sample preparation and shipping, and data management
-Opportunity to be responsible for conducting in-house analysis of hematology samples
-Study preparation
-Work collaboratively with Pathologists to author Clinical Pathology Results sections of Pathology Reports
-Monitoring inventory and ordering laboratory supplies

Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Science (BS)
-Medical Technologist, ASCP certification preferable
-4+ years' experience; experience with animal samples a plus
-Working knowledge and familiarity with clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis laboratory instruments, equipment, and procedures
-Knowledge of the principles and practices of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory
-Experience in processing blood and urine samples
-Ability to provide accurate and concise data in a timely manner
-Ability to read and follow a Study Plan; execute laboratory-related activities in a well-organized fashion
-Familiarity with regulatory practices, laboratory safety (e.g., biosafety, chemical hygiene).
-Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
-Willingness to learn and try new ideas
