POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

Position Title:              Membership Specialist (Abilene)

Reports To:              Membership Coordinator

Status:                            Exempt

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Membership Specialist is responsible for implementing recruitment, retention and development processes through various membership initiatives directed at Girl Scouts, including projects in underrepresented areas.

 

Consistently exercises discretion and judgment with respect to matters of significance. This job is not routine, clerical or administrative in nature.

 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

1.     Based on analysis of demographics, community needs, membership growth and girls’ interests, implement girl and adult membership retention, recruitment and development strategies to achieve membership, recruitment and retention goals.

2.     Ensure appropriate resources and volunteer support is in place for delivery of membership activities for girls.

3.     Recruit, select, place, train, supervise, and evaluate qualified membership volunteers to carry out troop program implementation.

4.     Active participation in program events, recruitment activities, and other outreach strategies.

5.     Report regularly on progress and completion of work and revise strategies as directed.

6.     Contribute toward the effectiveness of the Council diversity guidelines by ensuring that recruitment efforts reach out to all racial/ethnic groups and provide equal access; exhibit knowledge and understanding of affirmative action and non-discriminatory attitude in all internal and external working relationships.

7.     Knowledge of GSUSA resources, guidelines, Safety Activity Checkpoints, and Council policies, as well as Girl Scout Mission and Council Plan of Work.

8.     Develop and implement strong human relations and communications skills to market program activities to girls, volunteers, employed staff; and the community, while cultivating the interest and support of key community leaders, institutions, and business organizations.

9.     Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with donors, members, volunteers, staff and community contacts.

10. Travel and participate in special projects at other regional offices.

11. Perform other duties as assigned by the MembershipMembership Coordinator.

14.  Assist with the Business Services/Retail/Product Sales functions in regional office, as requested.

16. Other duties as assigned by the Membership Coordinator and Senior Director of Membership.
