Merchandise Coordinator

The primary role of the Merchandise Coordinator is inventory management, including shipping and receiving, inventory integrity, stock room organization and staging.

Essential Duties

• maintaining backroom organization at all times
• ensuring that ‘Clothes That Work’ service standards and practices are followed in the stockroom
• efficient and accurate receipt of goods - contributing to overall productivity goals of store by receiving stock efficiently and enabling Merchandising team by having product ready as required
• efficient and accurate shipping of goods (transfers, consolidations, debits
• effective and efficient staging of merchandise and ensuring it is floor- ready (folded, hung, priced and security tagged); demonstrating a sense of urgency in flowing stock to floor
• updating inventory and verification in systems
• ensuring inventory integrity and follows loss prevention and security procedures, leading by example, to minimize risk and shrink
• assisting with in-store inventory replenishment ensuring all products and sizes are on sales floor - driving timely replenishment and maintenance of ease-of-shop standards to drive top line results
• assisting with presentation standards
• assisting with pricing and price changes

• Clearly understands and demonstrates link between efficient receipt/replenishment of stock and increased units per transaction and basket size
• Acts with a strong sense of urgency in all task execution
• Understands and demonstrates knowledge of the value of top line sales and customer satisfaction as a result of being "in stock" in key items as shown by continually improving scores measuring in-stock position
• Be flexible to carry out work assignments for merchandising and customer service as required

People Leadership
• Serves as shift leader when required, responsible for productive performance through real-time task assignments and direct supervision
• Performs as a positive team member and serves as a role model of productive performance at all times
• Knows productivity goals and how to achieve them; drives goal achievement through real-time shift leadership decision as needed
• Drives productivity for both Customer Service team and Merchandising team when acting as shift leader
• Uses knowledge of traffic patterns and merchandising needs to re-allocate resources by shifting merchandise and customer service associates when appropriate
• Is able to step in as required and support customer service team needs as required at "all hands on deck" times
• Assists Assistant Store Operator (ASO) - Merchandise in execution of team action plan to address areas of strength and opportunity
• Supports Assistant Store Operator (ASO) – Merchandise to plan and monitor weekly backroom planner and communicates to team
• Supports completion of ‘Backroom Productivity Tracker’ is being completed and takes action to improve results
• Identifies and recommends training opportunities
• Participates in relevant training opportunities as required
• Drives shift productivity through on-the-job coaching to inform and educate to standards
• Accepts and seeks feedback on performance as a shift leader
• Portrays self as vocal advocate for continuous improvement
• Continually self-educates on policy, procedures and skills

Loss Prevention
• Supports any loss prevention initiatives

Administrative Oversight

• As Shift Leader, manages store closing procedures, including closing registers, count, balance and enter tender,  deposit, alarm and lock up

Housekeeping Standards
• Maintains non-sales floor areas housekeeping, including janitorial (employee customer washrooms, employee areas, break room, etc.)
• Maintains stockroom housekeeping standards, including janitorial

Skills and Qualifications
Education:
• Some High School

Skills:
• Supervisory skills, including real-time task direction, resource allocation and follow up
• People skills, including leading, motivating, communicating, coaching, feedback, performance management, and succession planning
• Retail business operating and administrative systems, including point of sale, inventory management systems, and Lotus Notes

Experience: 
• Minimum 1 to 2 years experience shipping/receiving experience with inventory and stockroom organizing and planning experience.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted and carry as required
• Ability to lift and turn repeatedly throughout the shift
• Ability to lift above shoulder and from floor to shoulder and floor to waist
• Ability to twist, turn, reach and work above shoulder level
• Safe ladder use for shelving retrieving stock, floor displays and signage
