MESSAGING SERVICES SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Data Services, Information Technology Services - Markham Campus

Reporting to the Manager, Data Services, the incumbent is responsible for systems management and support of systems software for the College’s Messaging, Collaboration and unified communication infrastructure including but not limited to the Microsoft Exchange E-mail System and the Microsoft Lync server platform. The incumbent will provide specialist support with the maintenance, development and security of the Email system and associated services as a member of the Technical Services Team within ITS. They will also participate in internal and external networks to ensure the successful integration and delivery of IT services across the institution. In addition, the incumbent will be required to maintain an awareness of developing applications and technologies, evaluating the impact on existing systems architecture, and the development of specialization areas.

Qualifications:

·         Minimum 3 year Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

·         Minimum 7 years working experience and intimate proficiency with Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 (or beyond) and Active Directory administration and troubleshooting in a large-scale multi-site environment.  Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2010 is preferred.

·         Must have 5 years working experience supporting, maintaining and administering core Microsoft technologies including Windows Server 2003/2008. Must have strong scripting skills and knowledge of Windows Powershell.

·         Minimum of 5 years experience is required of Internet/Intranet technologies including security features, network infrastructure and operations including switching, routing, Ethernet, TCP/IP and remote access technology.

·         Working experience supporting, maintaining and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005.

·         Excellent customer service and telephone skills; experience in a professional service environment with responsibility for supporting multiple applications and network environments; must have good verbal and written communications skills as well as very strong problem solving skills.

·         Advanced MS Office skills.

·         Able to multi-task and meet conflicting priorities within rigid deadlines; strong written communication skills; able to work effectively independently and within a team environment.

·         Experience with ITIL Processes.

·         Must have experience supporting email anti-spam, anti-virus technologies and mobile email devices such as Blackberry (and other, similar technologies.)
