METALLURGICAL ENGINEER
SUMMARY:
Position will be responsible for activities in the materials lab which include the development of new products and supporting activities required to maintain and update existing products to ensure profitability, including product evaluation. Support engineering, quality and manufacturing staff and external vendors to provide efficient and effective process capabilities to meet customer expectations.
RESPONSBILITES:
Conduct various tests on metals, alloys and castings to determine internal physical properties and structures.
Assist engineering, sales and marketing to help improve product design of new and existing products
Provide analytical and technical support to manufacturing in the identification and resolution of metallurgy and materials science related quality and performance issues through research, testing and investigations.
Recommend new processes to improve quality of products.
Support engineering efforts by developing and writing test specifications and standards to improve product design through material specifications, manufacturing processes, cost improvements, etc.
Document all work and write technical reports.
Make comprehensive decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative in a given functional area of specialization to implement strategy and achieve department objectives.
Initiate and maintain contacts with engineers and outside people in the interest of joint problem solving, coordination of total effort and keeping in contact with latest technical developments.
Review and approve design and or test proposals for new and existing products.
Analyze and understand customer needs and desires.
Develop policy operating budget guidelines for the given functional area of specialization.
Prepare and author technical papers for publication.
Assist marketing by providing engineering contact and recommendations to resolve customer problems.
Keep engineering management advised as to project work status, work problems and strategic product needs and opportunities.
Identify and oversee training requirements.
Provide support to manufacturing and marketing personnel.
PRODUCT DEVELPOMENT MANAGER
Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Product Development, this position will develop and execute strategic new business initiatives. Leveraging capabilities and reputation as a leading innovator in composite metals, this position will be responsible for the successful commercialization of assigned new products. The successful candidate is expected to have a broad technical background, enabling him to identify innovative new product solutions for a variety of high tech end markets. This includes actively participating in both internal process developments within manufacturing, as well as problem solving seminars with potential customers. This position is responsible for the effective communication and coordination between process engineering, quality and manufacturing personnel regarding the successful launch of new programs. Working closely with the field Sales organization, this position will technically support selective market initiatives in the field through extensive customer meetings and communications. Responsibilities on assigned product launches will include coordination of pricing/profitability and competitive analysis along with technology assessments. Reflecting the international aspects of the company’s business, responsibilities of this position will include the support and coordination of global programs. Both domestic and international travel will be required. Experience in metals or related industry, preferably involving strip or clad metal engineering or metal parts/component design and manufacturing preferred.
METALLURGIST
Seeking a dynamic, self-directed individual to join Engineering Team! Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing production processes for casting of titanium and/or superalloy investment cast components.
- Responsible for preparing design specifications, requirement compliance, and customer interface on production information for manufacturing.
- Coordinate with QA and production personnel in preparing necessary information to produce investment castings.
- Use data and statistical analysis to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER
Manages metallurgical operations and quality of all steel supply operations. Directs and monitors the inspection and testing of all incoming steel product. Provides technical support to purchasing and product engineering. Conducts surveys and assessments of steel suppliers and prepares appropriate reports of findings. Resolves steel quality problems through ongoing consultation and efficient operation of the metallurgy department. Coordinates and conducts steel trials as required to assure a dependable supplier base. Provides operational consultation and oversight of all heat treating related functions, including process monitoring and trouble-shooting. Serves as technical advisor for nondestructive testing, including ultrasonic and eddy current tests. Provides technical support and training as required on metallurgical subjects. Assures that documentation for metallurgical processes, testing, and equipment is maintained and updated as required. Conduct or direct root cause analysis and failure analysis. Provides for the continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and equipment. Assures maximum reliability of equipment, processes and procedures. Provides complete project management for new equipment and system acquisitions, modifications.
METALLURGICAL ENGINEER
Manage new product development orders, files, and documentation with the goal to drive assigned products through feasibility, validation, pilot, and production reviews. This includes quotation assistance, confirmation of drawings, development of manufacturing routings, review of bill of materials, development or modification of manufacturing procedures, and determination of quality checks for the process.
Will also team with internal and external resources to develop product specifications, raw material sources, production processes, etc. to ensure successful product introduction and transition of products to manufacturing. Will deliver prototype parts on time and within cost constraints. Support purchasing activities for the qualification of new suppliers. Provide technical analysis of supplier capabilities and manage technical evaluation of materials and services to be provided. Work with the purchasing department in the discovery and development of potential new suppliers. Technical Support as backup to the Technical Support Manager. Serve as highly effective technical resource to the customer in resolving “returned goods” issues, assisting the sales force with presentations and supplying the customer with product data or other information of a technical nature. Work with others to help them understand and evaluate special customer requirements and SPC requirements.
METALLURGICAL ENGINEER
Conduct performance appraisals on a regular basis. Manage the metallurgy lab work schedule and ensure sufficient coverage to support operations. Manage employee time and attendance. Provides technical consultation to heat treating department. Monitors SPC and related process documentation. Participates in the review and evaluation of heat treatment processes and process improvement programs. Provides technical consultation to and assists manufacturing in the identification and resolution of metallurgy related quality and performance issues. Provides technical training as required on metallurgical subjects. Directs process and procedures training for individuals assigned to metallurgical laboratories. Identifies and recommends specific testing procedures, techniques and equipment. Writes and submits necessary purchase requisitions, capital requests and other required documentation. Conduct or direct failure analysis and other special investigations as assigned. Be able to operate machine tools required to properly prepare specimens for evaluation.
