ACS has an opening for a full-time, experienced “Metrology Laboratory Technician” for our afternoon (second shift) in the Metrology Lab.  The Technician will perform product tests according to procedures, standards, the Company and customer specific requirements.  The Technician will evaluate test results and prepare test reports; participate in test planning and scheduling; as well as general lab and equipment maintenance. 

 

This position assists in RD activities in the field of electrochemical and optical sensing technologies.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Timely execution of tests according to test plans / procedures for new and existing product validation, including execution of DVPR plans, as per customer requirements.

·         Operational maintenance of instruments and equipment, including environmental chambers, ovens, breath alcohol simulators, flow controllers, data acquisition modules, etc during the second (afternoon) shift

·         General laboratory maintenance.

·         Coordination of effective work of interns, cooperative students, and other staff working in the metrology lab during the second (afternoon) shift

·         Analysis of data as it is collected, and application of conclusions to guide further tests

·         Recording and maintaining proper documentation of measurement data for internal and certification tests.

·         Preparation of test reports and technical evaluation reports.

·         Participation in other metrology lab activities as required.

 

Qualifications/ Education: 

Mandatory Requirements Skills

·         College Diploma or higher degree in engineering, physical sciences, or computer science with at least 3 years of relevant experience

·         Hands-on experience in operating various testing instruments (environmental chambers, DAQ modules, oscilloscopes, flow controllers, etc.)

·         Ability to strictly follow testing protocols

·         Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

·         Ability to shift focus among multiple priorities quickly

·         Hands-on trouble shooting skills and good problem solving skills

·         Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint)

 

Desired Requirements Skills

·         Working knowledge of general metrology principles is a definite asset

·         Familiarity with lab instrumentation maintenance procedures highly desired

·         Understanding of statistical data analysis

·         Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuit design

·         Experience with LabView and Matlab
