Macquarie Funds Group (MFG) is Macquarie Group's funds management business. MFG is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets. The group had $A324 billion in assets under management as at 30 September 2011.
MFG has been managing assets for pension funds, institutions and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US (through Delaware Investments). Macquarie Investment Management offers investment management across a number of asset classes including equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities, infrastructure securities, real estate securities and fund of funds. It delivers a full service offering to both retail and institutional clients in Australia and the US, with selective offerings elsewhere.
The Associate will be an important part of Macquarie's Private Markets Team (Fund of Private Equity Funds). The core responsibilities will include supporting investment professionals with due diligence, financial modelling, investment research and ultimately investment selection. The Associate's work will focus on investments in growth equity/leveraged buyout private equity strategies in the United States across a diverse range of industry sectors. In addition, the Associate will be actively involved in the operational aspects of running a private equity fund including the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for clients, arranging for capital calls and distributions, liaising with other departments within Macquarie (accounting, tax, and legal) on various fund matters, monitoring investment performance of funds and direct investments, and producing presentations for clients.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or related discipline required;
- Minimum 3 years work experience in a private equity, investment banking or management consulting role which has enabled development of strong analysis, modeling and company valuation skills;
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with examples of past writing samples;
- Strong technical ability including MS Excel modeling skills;
- Strong analytical and research skills with a meticulous attention to detail;
- Demonstrated drive for achievement and the ability to work well on a small team;
- An ability to multitask, work autonomously and adhere to strict timing deadlines.
