Mgr – Accounting III

Ensures integrity and directs the timely and accurate preparation of the business unit's financial statements and leads appropriate analyses of all related data. Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and to all US Government regulations (CAS, FAR, IRC). Establishes accounting policy and ensures compliance. Provides direction and evaluates financial and accounting activities to ensure accuracy, integrity and compliance through internal controls and segregation of duties. Establishes accounting policies. Provides effective communication. Provides training, coaching, counseling and technical guidance. Prepares performance appraisals/salary actions of department personnel. Establishes procedures and internal control systems to safeguard assets and implements company accounting policies ensuring compliance with International Accounting Standards (IAS), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). Ensures adequate internal controls, validating these controls in accordance with the BAE Financial Accounting Policies (FAP). Evaluates processes and policies in accordance with BAE Operational Assurance Statements and initiates corrective action as appropriate. Acts as accounting liaison with internal and independent auditors on accounting matters. Reviews, prepares and submits responses to audit findings. Guarantees strong internal controls with appropriate segregation of duties, and follows proper approval protocols. Reviews and analyzes financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards. Works closely with OG level accounting personnel to meet guidelines. Interacts with multiple business areas within the business units, other OG entities and the OG level as it relates to financial issues. Demonstrates newly acquired skills and keeps abreast of pertinent changes in accounting field. Evaluates processes to correct errors. Promotes Lean concepts. Sets standards that inspire process improvements. Directs the preparation of financial data, variance analyses, and reports required by the company, U.S. Government agencies and in conjunction with contract specifications. Provides leadership for the shared responsibility of employee development. Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. Maintains a safe work environment, compliance with safety objectives and policies.

Required Skills:
Minimum Education / Experience: Relevant Bachelor's degree (typically Accounting or Business Administration) or equivalent plus additional 13 years relevant experience; or relevant Master's degree plus 11 years experience; including 5 years of relevant management experience in a U.S. Government contracting business environment. Management experience should include automated financial system design and implementation experience, project management and full budget responsibility in a changing and dynamic environment. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Applied knowledge of all accounting systems within the LOB. Knowledge of accounting in a U.S. Government contracting environment. Ability to communicate and influence all levels of the organization in the business decision-making process. Ability to make clear presentations to all levels of management concerning accounting processes and issues as well as to customers concerning broad based business issues. Ability to hire, develop, motivate, direct, and retain staff. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and delegate. Ability to plan strategically. Ability to manage projects, and develop budgets. Ability to effectively represent the Company. Advanced communication skills. Ability to effectively manage interpersonal relations and conflicts. Ability to use objectivity, creativity, and analytical ability to solve problems.
Preferred Skills:
Preferred Education / Experience: Knowledge of accounting in a U.S. Government contracting environment. Master's degree in Business Administration. CPA/CMA certification. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Licenses/Certifications: Certain positions may require the ability to obtain appropriate Security Clearance. Professional certifications preferred.
