Basic Function:
- The Allocation Manager leads a team of 3-4 Allocators who are directly responsible for the allocation of merchandise.
- Utilizes the JDA / Arthur Allocation system to create and maintain store sales and stock plans by class. Allocates merchandise to the stores based on store sales, receipt and inventory plans and manage store inventory levels to maximize sales, gross margin and inventory turn.
- This position also provides quantitative analysis to support the business needs and to direct future purchases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Builds relationships with the field organization through weekly conversations and updates regarding allocation strategies / product availability.
- To meet and exceed sales, gross margin, and inventory goals for areas of responsibility.
- Forecasts inventory flow projections.
- Monitors and approves product flow to the stores via initial inventory releases as well as consistent replenishment to stores.
- Drives division size optimization through size analysis and pre-pack recommendations.
- Proactively implements strategies based on knowledge of geographic and store attribute performance.
- Reviews regional opportunities, reviews best seller items weekly.
- Partners with cross functional peers to communicate allocation strategies that support planned merchandising and financial objectives.
- Partners with Director to balance workload and priorities.
- Mentors and develops direct reports as well as creates a strategic, proactive, collaborative team environment.
- Prioritizes and manages department/divisions workload.
- Monitors timelines for execution of merchandising plans.
- Monitors shipping timelines and communicates with production, design and merchandising to find solutions to logistical and operational issues which impact inventory levels.
- Volume of $400 million with 200+ Stores across US and Canada.
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Bachelors degree
- 4-7 Years allocation/merchandising/planning experience preferably in a vertical retail environment
- Strong retail math and proficiency in Excel is a must
- Previous experience with JDA / Arthur Allocation system is a plus
