Mgr, Financial Reporting recruitment
We currently have a position opening in our Newark, N.J. office for a Manager within the Individual Annuity Financial Reporting unit. The Financial Reporting unit supports all GAAP and STAT reporting and analysis for the Individual Annuities segment of Prudential Financial. The successful candidate will support the financial reporting and analysis process for the Individual Annuities business.
The Individual Annuities segment manufactures and distributes individual variable and fixed annuity products, primarily to the U.S. mass affluent market. Our focus on innovative product design coupled with our risk management strategies, has contributed to growth in the individual annuities business in recent years and a reduced risk profile. The Annuities Business is a fast-paced developing business, and is a key piece of PFI's overall growth strategy. Our annuity products are distributed through a diverse group of independent financial planners, wirehouses, banks, and insurance agents, including Prudential Agents and Allstate's agency distribution force.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
The Manager will be primarily responsible for supporting the monthly and quarterly financial close process for the Individual Annuities business which includes:
- Oversight and coordination of special projects such as automation and new business initiatives, new regulatory requirements, etc.
- Review and analysis of various month-end journal entries, supporting files, reconciliations, and other close related items such as the DAC submission, Net Investment Income analysis, AUM rollforwards and reporting. Includes actuarial related concepts such as DAC, Insurance Reserves, etc.
- Review of Balance Sheet/Income Statement/Cash Flow analysis for quarterly external GAAP and statutory reporting for the Individual Annuity business. Ensuring accuracy, reasonability, and completeness of total financial results (balance sheet and income statement) by legal entity for both GAAP and STAT.
- Review of GAAP and STAT account reconciliations for PASS sign-off process.
- Review of the quarterly STAT analysis packages
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly footnote submissions for inclusion in PFI and 10Qs/K including, fair value disclosures, derivative and investment footnotes, etc
- Assist in the preparation and review of SEC reporting requirements (10K and 10Q filings) for Pruco legal entities, as well as summary subsidiary analysis packages.
- Develop and support internal control standards to ensure compliance with Enterprise Accounting Policies and Procedures.
- Support all financial reporting audits, including SOX and MAR work, partnering with PWC, Internal Audit and Risk Management.
- Responsible for management aspects of up to 3 individuals, including associate managers and staff accountants.
- Various adhoc requests as needed.
The successful candidate will also work closely, develop relationships with, and become a trusted business advisor to our business partners in the Annuity Business, Life Finance, Accounting Policy, Actuarial, Corporate Accounting, Operations, Separate Accounts, and Statutory Reporting.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
- Minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience.
- Strong PC Skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
