SUMMARY Responsible for the implementation and management of effective import and export compliance programs. The position will support training initiatives on the full spectrum of import and export compliance issues. Additionally, will assist in maintaining and updating the trade compliance policy and operational procedures by staying current with the US Government (USG) regulatory changes or internal corporate organizational or procedural changes that pertain to export compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Leads the implementation of strategies for major international programs and drives trade compliance policy and operational procedures. 2. Ensures export licenses in accordance with ITAR/EAR or other applications for export approval are professionally prepared, accurate, and properly coordinated within the company and reviewed by counsel 3. Maintain current awareness of federal regulatory requirements in the areas of U.S. export compliance and documentation, including Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations (OFAC), etc 4. Recognizes organizational issues and stakeholders impacting and affected by Compliance operations, and the need to inform management of current events and trends. Involves substantial interaction with Program Managers and Contract Managers 5. Interact effectively with multiple functional areas including supply chain, distribution, customer service and finance 6. Serves as a stakeholder in managing timely completion and submission of ITAR and Commerce export license applications and administration of licenses. Provides metrics to management 7. Manages direct customer interaction on trade compliance issues to ensure timely, accurate filing of export compliance documents and applications. Recognizes the need to involve and inform organizational departments impacted by Compliance processes and events. Identify potential issues and implement corrective actions on a proactive basis 8. Provides education and training to the relevant stakeholders. 9. Keeps abreast of changes in government trade regulations, world trade initiatives and other legislation to ensure export compliance procedures remain current 10. Audits programs for export compliance 11. Lead and support customs compliance related projects, particularly those involving the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) 12. Assist in the development and maintenance of documentation (i.e. Compliance Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures) for emerging markets. 13. Assist with the development of action plans related to mitigating or resolving import related issues related to foreign government agencies (i.e. permit requirements, antidumping regulations, and related classifications, Country of Origin requirements and NAFTA regulations) 14. Understand proper determination of Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) and Export Control Classification Numbers. 15. Understand the logistical aspects of getting goods accepted into other countries and the impact of unique, proper documentation, classifications and inspection requirements for specific countries. 16. Work with brokers, forwarders and 3rd party logistics organizations to insure a smooth and efficient export/import process. 17. Strong understanding of computers and systems BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor?s degree in International Business or related field · 7-plus years related experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Prior import/export or brokerage related experience with an international logistics company · Prior experience working with the importation of goods into one or more the BRIC countries · Prior business experience working in supply chain, distribution or engineering areas · Fluency in at least one other language with a preference for Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese or Russian · Prior experience developing or implementing Trade Compliance software · IIEI International Trade Certification ~mjlg~ Oshkosh Corporation is an Equal Opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal opportunities for all employees and applicants.
