MI Accountant, Group Finance, Investment Banking

Investment bank in the City requires an MI Accountant to support Group Finance Tax team. We are looking for an individual to provide broad accounting and financial management support to the International Tax team, to create a link between finance and the Tax Specialists. The candidate should bring accounting knowledge and systems technical skills to complement and support the tax technical skills of the function across all specialist areas for which the team is responsible.

This is a new role within the team requiring the candidate to be proactive in developing the role to best serve the tax technical team.

The role will require accounting support and production of relevant management information numbers for each tax specialist area and responsibilities will include:

• Production of monthly, quarterly and annual tax numbers within the general ledger and management information systems for delivery to the Compliance and Reporting tax manager for technical analysis and executive overview of the tax status of International division;
• Production of monthly, quarterly and annual numbers from the general ledger including specific VAT return reports for delivery to the VAT manager to facilitate the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and any other indirect taxes requirements;
• Assistance with the production of various management information reporting packs for senior management as required;
• Maintain relevant accruals and expense balances on a monthly basis;
• Apply advanced excel skills to drive efficiencies and automation of all tax worksheets
• Develop and maintain a close relationship with the wider finance team;
• Ensure all new developments to finance and front office systems are fit for purpose for the requirements of the tax team;
• Main point of contact for the team on any SAP, MI or IT matters;

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Degree (ideally finance related)
• Strong accounting skills required – typically a part or newly qualified accountant (ACCA/ CIMA/ ACA) would have the required level of skills

Knowledge, technical skills and expertise

• Advanced Excel essential, VBA preferable. Good PowerPoint skills required
• Working knowledge of SAP preferable but not essential
• Relevant skills in producing numbers for management packs
