Microsoft Consultant
Akibia has an exciting opportunity for a Microsoft Consultant with a strong background in enterprise messaging and systems management. The Consultant will spend the majority of the time interfacing with customers deploying, and integrating solutions to help customers manage their Microsoft infrastructure. Akibia consultants have a great deal of autonomy and are expected to be able to manage their time effectively.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform migrations, upgrades and health checks of Microsoft products; primarily Exchange and Active Directory
- Utilize statements of work to create an implementation plan
- Work with the client to start and finish projects utilizing basic project management methodology
- Main point of communication between customers, sales and other engineers on project status and risk
- Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to customers as final deliverables.
Experience and Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in a hands on technical consulting role is preferred but not necessary
- Strong understanding and experience implementing complex designs:
- Messaging and Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007, and 2010
- Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Active Directory including, setting domain policies, how IPSEC works, Group Policy, site definition, replication, trusts etc.
- Experience with virtualization solutions including VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V/SCVMM
- Experience with System Center (Configuration manager and Operations manager)
- Strong understanding on name resolution and related services
- General networking architecture including WAN environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent client facing and presentation skills
- Project management and team leadership skills
- Time management: Work on multiple projects at once while recording time and activities
- Identify and track issues, risks and action items
- Strong understanding of change management and why it is important
- Strong organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with little direction or assistance
- BS degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.) or equivalent work experience
