Microsoft Systems Engineer

This is a Microsoft Systems Administrator position. As part of the Server System Administration team, you will work with a team of Solaris and Windows system administrators/engineers, network engineers, and application engineers to maintain and enhance an existing computer network infrastructure. The computer network consists of a heterogeneous mix of computing hardware and software platforms, including a mainframe, servers and workstations, using off-the-shelf as well as custom software applications. Interfacing with users, management, other IS Engineers, and Change Management personnel is critical to success.
This position interfaces occasionally with internal users, developers, management, IS Engineers, and Change Management personnel.

This position will be required to follow standard processes, plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule, and clearly document results. Tasks will be varied and range from day-to-day Intel hardware, Microsoft OS support, application run-time support, engineering upgrades and new systems, to supporting process definition and implementation. The understanding and committing to Service Level Agreements achieves verification of operational requirements. Participation in meetings with Project Teams, Architecture Standard Working Groups, and Change Management that require written and verbal skills. Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices, system benchmarks, and overall technical acumen is essential. Will be part of the 24/7 on-call rotation schedule.
 
The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with the Microsoft Windows 2003, 2008 and 2008R2 operating systems. Knowledge of VMware and / or Citrix virtual technology is needed to support our heavily virtualized server infrastructure. A strong working knowledge of the relationships and interactions between a Windows server infrastructure and Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, TCP/IP, Windows Clustering, remote storage is required.  While not required, knowledge of Bladelogic, Banking, and Banking services is a plus
 
Requires a Bachelor's in computer science, information systems or other related field and 4+ years programming, systems analysis or other directly related experience.
