Microstrategy Developer / Analyst Job in Houston, Texas US
SUMMARY:
Position is a report developer/analyst with extensive knowledge of relational databases, responsible for developing and maintaining ever changing Marketing reporting and analysis, predominantly using MicroStrategy, along with other reporting solutions.
Duties Key Accountabilities:
- Hands-on development of Dynamic Dashboards, Scorecards and Statistical reporting, using MicroStrategy Release 9+ version software
- Develop a strong understanding of the source systems that pass data to the reporting systems and the relationships within the data
- Supporting and managing special projects, ad-hoc management reporting requests, and issue resolution
- Meeting regularly with the Marketing - and other internal departments and resources - to review current reporting and identify improvements and efficiencies
- Interfacing closely with Marketing and IT management to identify and implement enhanced reporting and analytics used in strategic planning of future initiatives
- Responsible for testing, issues management
- Developing and maintaining documentation for reporting and tracking all changes
- Supporting and interfacing with other report requestors and other related departments I don’t think we need this line – too specific.
- Actively promoting and facilitating use of existing reporting “best practices”
- Training and mentoring less senior members of team
- Keeping up-to-date with all current and planned functionality within the supported reporting systems and identifying potential opportunities and benefits through its utilization
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills Qualifications:
- Education: BA or BS with an emphasis in business, analytics ( preferred)
- Experience with MicroStrategy later releases – 9.0 and higher is preferred; 8.0 and higher required with hands on report development, dashboard creation
- Working experience with MicroStrategy Multi-Source and Mobile report development a plus
- 3 + years report creation background with hands-on MicroStrategy experience, preferred
- Strong analytic and interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; able to express complex ideas in simple terms; well developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to challenge; very strong analytically, strategic planning and quantitative skills; ability to rapidly assimilate knowledge of retail processes and systems
- Ability to assume ownership of specific functions and/or products; and to lead and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently as well as partner with others as a team
- Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, and statistics, Marketing systems a plus
- Ability to learn and utilize various applications for reporting, analysis, and data sourcing
- Willing to take the initiative to improve processes and resolve problems
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Strong SQL skills
- Skilled in data modeling and architecture
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects.
Ability to maintain a sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time and operate computer equipment.
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week from the Company’s Houston, Texas corporate office.
