Mid-level Lawyer (3-5 years PQE) - Corporate Asset Finance, London
Macquarie Corporate and Asset Finance (CAF) provides innovative and traditional capital, finance and related services to clients operating in selected international markets. With offices in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America and Europe, Corporate and Asset Finance specialises in:
- leasing and asset finance
- tailored debt and finance solutions
- asset remarketing, sourcing and trading
Due to the continued growth of CAF's asset finance and leasing activities in Europe, a mid-level lawyer is sought to join the CAF's Legal team in London. CAF's asset finance and leasing portfolio in Europe has been steadily growing since 2003 and includes aircraft, motor vehicles, and technology, manufacturing, energy, rail and mining equipment.
Reporting to CAF's General Counsel and working alongside business unit management and the experienced legal team in Europe, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Providing integrated legal support to CAF's various asset finance activities in EMEA, with a view to becoming the primary legal support to one of CAF's asset finance and leasing business units;
- Negotiation, documentation and settlement of terms sheets and transaction documents in close collaboration with deal teams;
- Liaison with central risk management functions including Credit, Tax, Operational Risk and Compliance;
- Assisting in developing internal know-how, documentation and internal policies;
- General transaction structuring and execution management;
- Instructing and managing external counsel and advisers;
- Drafting or reviewing internal credit and related approval papers;
- Ensuring compliance with applicable group policies, procedures and applicable external regulations
- Providing sign off on transaction documents against approvals obtained.
To be successful you will:
- have 3-5 years post qualification experience in a major law firm or similar experience gained in-house;
- be a highly motivated commercial lawyer seeking to work directly within a business in an advisory and structuring capacity;
- have demonstrated ability to deliver pragmatic legal advice to non-lawyers;
- have previous experience in an asset finance or leasing environment (experience in multi-jurisdictional / cross border finance and/or other areas of finance will also be highly regarded);
- have transaction structuring, documentation negotiation and drafting experience;
- have the confidence and experience to be able to work both in a team environment and independently;
- possess strong verbal and written communication skills;
- have good relationship and time management skills.
